Time to Order Your Copies of 2008 Reach of Song

It’s that time of year for GPS members to ensure the broad distribution of their celebrated poetry anthology.

Twenty-five editions of The Reach of Song have been issued since the founding of The Georgia Poetry Society in 1979-80. And on July 22 the 2008 issue will be unveiled at the quarterly GPS meeting in Kennesaw.

"Members can take two actions to spread abroad the anthology," said Editor Robert L. Lynn. "First is to order copies before the meeting at advance prices of $13.50 each.

"Second is to purchase a gift copy for your local or school library," the editor stated.

Last year over 40 gift copies were placed in libraries over Georgia by GPS members.

The new edition contains 97 poems, including those by 25 adult and youth contest winners, and 72 poems, one each by 72 GPS members. Selections were made by Judges Donna Jean Tennis of Montgomery, Alabama, and Helen Jones of Fort Worth, Texas.

Highlights of the July 22 unveiling will be the introduction of the spectacular 2008 cover photograph by Dr. Lee Reed, UGA business professor and husband of GPS Vice President Clela Reed, and the recognition of Awards for Excellence for member poems.
